Car buyers will now have to shell out an additional Rs 100 as EMI on a Rs 4,00,000 loan for a period of 36 months.
This will be the second hike in interest rates in the current financial year. Banks had hiked rates by 25 basis points around April — the existing rate of interest on automobiles varies between 9.5 per cent and 12.5 per cent.
Bajaj Auto, India’s second largest two-wheeler maker, recorded its highest ever monthly sales of two-wheelers last month, selling 282,808 units in the domestic and export markets.
It recorded growth of 68 per cent over the same month previous year, when the company achieved sales of 167,945 units.
Sales of three-wheelers, including exports, grew 32 per cent to 32,614 units for the reporting period, against 24,731 units reported in the corresponding month a year ago.
