Nifty was trading above 5500 with positive bias. The markets opened on a strong note backed by positive global cues. Buying was seen in metal, realty, auto, IT, banking and telecom stocks. All BSE sectoral indices were trading in green. The broader markets too gained momentum in trade today. BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices were up 1% each.

MUMBAI:Three-wheeler maker, Atul Auto, is interested in acquiring a "not-less-than 51per cent stake" in Scooters India, a public sector undertaking in which theGovernment is mulling a divestment.
"We are interested in acquiring amajority stake in Scooters India. We will not go ahead with the deal if theGovernment sells us less than 51 per cent stake," Atul Auto's Director, VijayKedia, told PTI here.
Heavy Industries and Public EnterprisesMinister, Vilasrao Deshmukh, had earlier said the Government was scouting for ajoint venture partner to revive Scooters India.
