Mahindra Vehicles Diesel Tanks

Last week , GM Vice Chairman Bob Lutz said the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon faced an uncertain future -- at least in the United States. While GM hasn't officially said U.S. Colorado and Canyon production will end, last year, Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal said it was GM's plan to end production at the Shreveport plant where they're built by 2012.

Ford has said production of its Ranger compact pickup will end by 2011, and Chrysler has said the Dodge Dakota will end production next year, though the Dakota may be replaced by a small unibody pickup.

Overseas, it's a different story. GM doesnt plan to shutter its Chevy Colorado production facility in Thailand. The company recently received $445 million in loans to expand the plant for the next-gen Colorado and to produce four-cylinder diesel engines.

Kundan Lal Khattar registered the highest mileage figure of 27.7 km/litre of diesel. He received a 4 nights 5 days trip to Bangkok. Gaurav Puri and Anil Kumar came tied for second place with a mileage figure of 27.6 km/litre. In addition to this, 97 per cent of the participants achieved fuel efficiency figures of over 15 kmpl, 70 per cent of the vehicles returned fuel efficiency figures greater than 20 kmpl and the overall fuel average of the entire group was 21.43 kmpl.

Shares of fast food chain operator Jubilant FoodWorks saw a strong debut. The stock was trading at Rs 197.20, a 36% premium over an issue price of Rs 145 a piece. The market breadth was strong. Auto stocks gained on bargain hunting after a recent fall. However, IT stocks extended recent slide on the back of gloomy US economic data.

The Centre of Statistical Organization (CSO) will on Monday 8 February 2010 release the advance estimates of GDP growth for 2009-10. It will be based on the provisional data for the first half of the year and partial data for third quarter and no data on the fourth quarter, which contributes the highest to the annual Gross Domestic Product. The advance estimate will facilitate in the making of the Union Budget, to be presented in Lok Sabha on 26 February 2010.

The government will announce the industrial output data for the month of December 2009 on Friday, 12 February 2010. The industrial output rose 11.7% in November 2009. Also inflation numbers in the week ended 30 January 2010 will be out on Thursday. Stock markets remains shut on Friday on account of Mahashivratri.
