The response to the LST has been phenomenal through the day, with residents lining both riverbanks, They cheered, honked horns, flashed lights and waved American flags. Pleasure boaters provided a constant escort through the afternoon as the ship made its way toward Pittsburgh.

According to reports, many owners claimed that as their cars were towed after stalling suddenly, some were told that the entire fuel system was full of metal flakes and all fuel delivery components needed a replacement, with the involved repair cost billing up to $10,000.
In case the Jeep Wranglers and the 2009 Jetta TDI diesel engine are found affected with the said problems, and with the NHTSA now more stringent with the safety issues, a recall is most likely to follow.

Washington -- The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has opened investigations into 223,000 2007-08 Jeep Wranglers and 37,889 2009 Volkswagen Jetta TDI diesels for possible safety hazards.
NHTSA said Monday it will investigate claims that the Wrangler is prone to spill gas during fueling; the issue with the Jetta TDIs is engine stalling.
A spill generally happens when the tank is filled to nearly full or full, and the gas pump shuts off automatically. Consumers have reported that gasoline can splash on the person at the pump, or spill on the side of the SUV or on the ground.

Stanley Barish, 90, of Squirrel Hill, has traveled to Alabama and Indiana to visit his old World War II ship, but this time the big vessel is coming to him.
LST 325, the last functioning Landing Ship, Tank in the world and one that saw action during the invasions of Sicily and Normandy, will arrive in Pittsburgh on Wednesday from its base as a floating museum in Evansville, Ind., and dock on the North Shore for tours from Thursday through Sept. 7.
Mr. Barish, the former engineering officer and an amateur photographer who took copious pictures during the war, will once again board her for a reception and remember how she was 65 years ago.
