Miniature Modular Technology optimizes fluid flow in tight areas. - ThomasNet Industrial News Room (press release)
March 11, 2010 - Maximizing fluid flow processing in compact spaces, EM-TECHNIK Series 9M Miniature Modular Technology (MMT) is comprised of diaphragm valves, ball/check valves, flow meters, and regulators molded and machined from PVDF. Components can be combined and bolted down to base plate to create replaceable or configured manifolds that enable flexible layout suited for laboratory systems as well as semiconductor and pharmaceutical applications. Max cross-section is 3 mm for all manifold modules.

Asahi/America, Inc. has expanded their line of high purity fluid flow products to include the newly developed Series 9M Miniature Modular Technology from EM-TECHNIK. Miniature Modular Technology (MMT) allows for maximum fluid flow processing in the most compact spaces. Series 9 components are easily combined and bolted down to a base plate to create easily replaced or configured manifolds. Series 9 components include diaphragm valves, ball valves, check valves, flow meters and regulators.

The reduced dimensions of Series 9 MMT allow for efficient use of space resulting in lower assembly and maintenance costs. With a maximum cross-section of 3mm for all manifold modules, fewer components are required with less medium in the system.

Series 9 manifolds allow for a flexible layout perfect for laboratory systems, and semiconductor and pharmaceutical applications. All modules can be combined with or replaced by each other in all directions, and all paths can be represented on one level, reducing the risk of leakage. Series 9 MMT components are molded and machined from PVDF for durability and corrosion resistance.

Schroeder Industries Re- Introduces Magnetic Suction Separators (SKB) - ThomasNet Industrial News Room (press release)
Leetsdale, PA - Schroeder Industries, a recognized leader in filtration and fluid conditioning products, offers both in-line and tank-mounted magnetic suction separators.

Schroeder's magnetic suction separators can be used on the inlet of a suction line submerged in a reservoir ranging from 1 to 3 inches in size. Schroeder SKB's are also available enclosed in several different housings that can be used either in-line or reservoir-mounted. The SKB protects system components using magnets to capture harmful metal fragments before they have the chance to jam a gear tooth or impeller blade downstream. The powerful magnets will also attract nuts, bolts, and other assorted ferrous intruders that could potentially cause catastrophic problems downstream.

AHR Expo features sustainable products, technologies - Contractor Mag
ORLANDO, FLA. ? More than 28,000 contractors and other HVAC professionals attended the 62nd 2010 International Air-Conditioning, Heating, Refrigerating Exposition here in late January to learn about the latest sustainable products and technologies showcased by 1,822 exhibiting companies, making this show the best attended AHR Expo in the Southeast U.S.

There were loads of products of interest to plumbing and mechanical contractors. We?ll have coverage in this issue and the April print edition of CONTRACTOR.

Bell & Gossett introduced a new line of energy efficient potable water recirculator pumps for delivering instant hot water to every faucet. Featuring electronically commutated motor technology and a patented spherical motor design, the ecocirc eliminates the need for a conventional shaft, seal and bearing assembly. The rotor/impeller is the only moving part in the entire pump and it is magnetically balanced on a stationery ceramic bearing inside the pump housing. This design allows the ecocirc to use 68% less energy than most standard pumps and can save an average family of four more than 12,000-gal. of water a year by eliminating the need to wait for hot water to reach the plumbing fixture. Using only 10 watts of power, the ecocirc can save a homeowner hundreds of dollars in energy costs a year.

Making its North American debut, The Grundfos Pumps Alpha is an energy-optimized, 115V circulator featuring a permanent magnet motor design that will cut power consumption by a minimum of 50%. Designed for hydronic heating applications in residential and light-commercial applications, the Alpha is equipped with Grundfos? AutoAdapt function that modulates circulator performance to match changing system demand. Developed in Europe nearly a decade ago, the Alpha is a proven technology, but rather than assuming that it would work equally well in North America without modification, Grundfos tested the product over the past two years in approximately 200 residential installations across the U.S. and Canada, including many of the installers? own homes. Feedback from these contractors has led to important adjustments in the hydraulic design of the Alpha to better match the specific requirements of the North American market.

The manufacturing industry has never had a glamorous public image, and to most people, it is not considered a “green” business category.

Historically, many large manufacturing operations have been large producers of pollutants – sending carbon dioxide, sulfur, mercury and other toxic chemicals into the environment.

However, most of the Wisconsin manufacturers that have survived the Great Recession have, by necessity, become leaner and greener companies, greatly reducing their carbon footprints and lowering their emissions of harmful materials, while generating significant cost savings.
