Boris Said claimed his first Nationwide win on Sunday`s NAPA Auto Parts 200 race at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. Said overcame Max Papis in a drag style race to the finish, as the .012-second margin of victory was the closest ever on a road course in the Nationwide Series, the fifth closest overall in series history and the closest since 1998 at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
Strong contenders pole winner Marcos Ambrose (finished 33rd) and defending champion Carl Edwards (finished 20th) faced mechanical problems on their cars and were unable to compete for high places. Late cautions forced overtime and prolonged the race enough to empty Robby Gordons fuel tank. Gordon led the field to the green flag for a restart on Lap 76 but stopped before completing the circuit and finished 14th.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has opened a preliminary investigation into whether 223,000 Wranglers are spilling fuel during fill-ups, the agency said in a notice posted today on its website.
In its request for a federal investigation, the center contends the plastic fuel tank's placement, behind the rear axle and below the rear bumper, makes it more prone to rupture or leak when hit from behind -- or in the case of rollover crashes, when it hits other objects.
NHTSA said an initial review of crash data supports Chrysler's contention that the Grand Cherokee didn't have significantly more crash-related fires than other vehicles.

After leader Robby Gordon ran out of gas on a green-white-checkered-flag finish that sent the race three laps past its scheduled distance of 74 laps, Said lost the lead to Papis at the entrance to the final two corners. But Papisâ?? momentum sent him wide in Turn 14, and Said drew alongside at the top of the final straightaway.
Papis lost a fraction of a second when he hit the rev limiter in second gear but still had enough to race side by side with Said all the way to the finish line.

Federal safety officials have launched an investigation into reports that problems with gas tanks on more than 3 million Jeep Grand Cherokees could cause fuel leaks and fires in some crashes.
The advocacy group Center for Auto Safety called for the investigation in October, alleging that the placement of the Grand Cherokee's plastic fuel tank behind the rear axle and below the rear bumper allowed for the possibility of tank ruptures, fuel spills and tank detachment during rear-end collisions and rollovers.
